Coil Tarps

As a flatbed truck driver, you can cover your coil loads with rectangular or square tarps just as previous generations of truck drivers have done for decades. Or you could join the modern age of trucking and using specialized steel coil tarps, edge protectors and more instead. Also known as coil bags, these tarps have been designed from the ground up to provide maximum protection and a perfect fit for coils.

Steel Coil tarps are constructed by connecting a rectangular panel with two rounded panels to create a cylindrical shape. The finished product fits directly over the top of a coil and is then secured in place with bungee straps. Once secured, the tarp offers maximum protection with little excess material left over and no gaps to worry about. A properly deployed coil bag is the best way to protect coils of aluminum and steel.

What is a Steel Coil Tarp?

A steel coil tarp is a fitted cover made of 18 oz heavy-duty vinyl. It has slits along the corner from the midpoint to the ground so you can easily run the Grade 70 chain through both ends of the coil to secure it to the flatbed.

Why Tarp Steel Coils?

It may seem like steel coils are pretty hearty, but coils still need to be protected from the elements during transport. Steel is an iron alloy, which means it’s susceptible to rust. Inclement weather like rain, snow, or storms can damage the steel during transport, which is why it’s so important to make sure steel coils are completely covered by the tarps.

It’s possible to cover steel coils with regular steel tarps. But, because they’re fitted covers, it’s much easier to cover coils with steels coil tarps than with typical steel tarps. This makes steel coil tarps a good investment if you haul steel coils frequently.

Tarps do not secure the steel coils to the truck; they only protect the load from weather damage.

Grade 70 chains, or G70 chains, secure the steel coils to the truckbed.

What accessories should be used with steel coil tarps?

Mytee offers coil edge protectors, also called coil cuffs, to create an additional barrier between your steel coils and your tarp.

This barrier protects the tarp from taking on long-term damage.

What makes Mytee’s steel coil tarps stand out?

  • Our steel coil tarps have two rows of D-rings two feet from the hems, so you have many anchor points to choose from when tying down the tarp.
  • Our steel coil tarps also have reinforced polyester webbing hems to help your tarps last longer.
  • All of our coil tarps are high quality at a price you can afford.
