Heavy-Duty Lifting Shackles

Shackles are multipurpose equipment used across different sectors for rigging, lifting, and securing weights. Shackles come in varieties such as Chain Shackles and Anchor Shackles. Their function is to serve as connectors, joining cables, ropes, and lifting slings while lifting or moving objects.

Heavy-Duty Lifting Shackles

Made up of four distinct elements, each serving crucial importance. The curved portion, supporting the load's weight is referred to as a bow. The pin that goes through both ends is supported by the ears. When a pin is completely engaged or threaded, its shoulder forms contact with the ear. It is a better approach to check them timely to inspect any damage and replace them with new ones to ensure safety during lifting and securing tasks.

How To Opt For The Heavy Duty Shackles?

To choose the most suitable shackle (Anchor Shackles or Lifting Shackles) that meets your expectations, consider these aspects that let you select the rigging shackles per your requirements.

Consider the Pin Type:

Type of Shackles for Lifting & Rigging

Screw Pin Anchor Shackles: It ensures sturdy anchoring and compatible to use for heavy-duty applications. It is used and recommended for quick and secured fastening and lifting capacity.

Bolt-Type Shackles:  It’s a highly secure shackle that comes with a bolt and nut. It is appropriate for heavy lifting and rigging tasks. Best for long-term uses that prevent accidental loosening.

Web Sling Shackles: It ensures faster installation and removability.  It's easy to use and widely used in numerous industrial tasks where quick assembly and disassembly are required.

Load Bearing Capacity

As safety is paramount and cannot be skipped, consider going for a shackle having an adequate Working Load Limit according to the task. All Shackles at Mytee Products are marked with their WLL for informed and secured usage.

Side-Loading

Opting the shackle to pull or lift a load more than 5° from its centerline is Side loading. The side loading reduces the working load limit of the shackle in the below-mentioned manner. It is recommended to consider the below scenario for easy hauling and safer operations.

For example - If you load the shackle at the following angles, there will be a reduction in the Shackle’s working load limit against its printed value.

  • 6° to 45° - 30% reduction in Working load limit
  • 46° to 90° - 50% reduction in WLL.
  • Over 90° -  Usage not recommended

Material

The type of material used has a direct impact on performance. Screw pin shackles can be considered which are made from quality materials such as High Strength Steel or forged Steel for durability.
