Gravity keeps the water from entering the container. the holes for the vent are cut under the top half of the vent. water would have to enter the holes at the bottom of the vent and then move vertically three inches and then horizontally to get inside the container.
We recommend at least two vents to have a cross flow of ventilation. Four would give an even better cross flow of air. But you could have Vents at every divet on the container for maximum air circulation.

Shipping containers are tough, strong, and extremely durable containers for products and raw materials. These containers are usually outside stuck in the heat whether in a shipping yard or on a boat out at sea making its way to its destination. Depending on what you're moving, whatever's inside will be completely deprived of fresh air and, in some cases, it could get very hot inside. With the Shipping Container Air Vent, air can be ventilated without worry.

The diagonal venting allows for the shipping container to receive proper and full ventilation without the worry of water coming into the container when it rains.	In the event that some water does actually get through the vent, there are small drains in place that allow the water to come out rather than going into the container.	Around the top and sides is a rubber seal that becomes airtight when installed onto the container that prevents water from coming through.
