Additional Information
  • Inclusions: This door check kit includes one door check arm, one handle, mounting bracket, and an installation pin. The door check arm has a curved design and one pivot hole at the end. It controls the range and position of the door swing.  The handle/ pull bar is useful in manually pulling or pushing the door. The mounting brackets hold the door check arm in place and allow it to pivot. The installation pin secures all these moving components together.
  • Application: The door check kit is an essential door component as it is designed to ensure the controlled operation of vehicle doors. Its primary function is to regulate the opening and closing of truck doors. It also avoids doors from unintentionally opening, which can lead to damage.

Safety Considerations

  • Always use safety glasses and gloves to protect against debris and sharp edges during removal and installation.
  • Ensure the door is supported or held in place to avoid it from swinging unexpectedly, which could cause injury or damage.
  • If the installation requires accessing areas near electrical wiring, disconnect the vehicle's battery to avoid electrical mishaps.
  • Utilize the correct tools, such as torque wrenches, to apply appropriate force when tightening bolts, avoiding over-tightening or stripping.
  • Adhere to the specific installation guidelines provided by the vehicle or part manufacturer to ensure proper fit and function.

Installation Instructions

  • Open the door fully to access the existing door check mechanism.
  • Locate and remove the bolts or pins securing the old door check arm to the door and the door and the vehicle frame. Carefully remove the strap from its mounting points.
  • Install the new door check by aligning it with the mounting holes on the door and frame.
  • Secure it in place using the installation pin. Ensure all connections are tight and secure.

When to Replace?

  • If you hear loud clicking, popping, or clunking sounds when opening or closing the door, it may indicate that the door check strap is worn or damaged.
  • When the door no longer holds its position and swings freely, especially on inclines or windy conditions, the check strap may have failed.
  • If the door opens beyond its normal range, it could strain the hinges and adjacent body panels, signaling a compromised door check mechanism.
  • Inspect for signs of wear, cracks, or broken components on the door check arm or its mounting points.
  • Loose bolts or missing fasteners can impair the function of the door check and should prompt a replacement.
